June 5, 2010: The AHMA will host our monthly show at Princeton Middle School beginning at 6:30 PM. Featured Bands will be Ridgeline and Giles Mountain String Band. Concessions will be provided in the cafeteria as always! Doors open at 5:30pm. Join us for an evening of music picking and fun!

About the AHMA

Appalachian Highlands Music Association: The AHMA is a West Virginia based,non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the heritage of the Appalachians. The AHMA’s goal is to promote, preserve, and foster bluegrass and old-time music. This “music of the mountains” is a part of our heritage brought to this country when our (primarily) Irish forefathers came into our area to settle and work. We fulfill our goals by sponsoring monthly bluegrass music programs, held the first Saturday of each month at the Princeton Middle School, Princeton, West Virginia. We move our shows outdoors during the summer months to Camp Creek State Park. Currently, we have 23 active member bands who participate in these programs. Each month two of our bands will perform a variety of bluegrass, old-time, and bluegrass gospel music for our audiences. Our scholarship program was established to make funds available to youngsters who are interested in beginning music lessons in guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and banjo. We believe that only through our young people can the AHMA continue to fulfill its goals of preserving our heritage of music.
